Job summary

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant to support healthcare teams in clinical and non-clinical tasks.

You will take vital signs, document patient information, schedule appointments, and help manage patient flow under provider direction. You will collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to ensure efficient care, while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in medical assisting preferred.
• Direct MA experience or medical field work 1–2 years required.
• BLS certification and CMA national certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist junior Medical Assistants with daily questions and onboarding.
• Show patients to examination rooms, prepare equipment, interview patients, record vitals.
• Explain procedures and medications; provide patient education materials.
• Perform general office duties; liaise with departments to support patients.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other specimens and prepare for testing; perform phlebotomy if competent.
• Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
• Provide immunizations as applicable under supervision.
• Contribute to departmental quality initiatives (e.g., patient identifiers and hand hygiene).
