Job summary

Advocate Health in North Carolina is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations in the Surgery: General department. The role includes rooming patients, performing lab procedures, and assisting physicians with examinations and tests.

Candidate must hold Basic Life Support and a Medical Assistant certification from an approved body; an associate degree is preferred. Standard 40-hour workweek, no holidays or weekends, with 8am-5pm schedule and self-scheduled late shifts.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport with patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, Windows navigation, and use of electronic medical records systems.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering information.
• Performs laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as pelvic exams, scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy.
• Administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols.
• Follows through with procedure/test requests and referrals to other facilities.
• Communicates with physicians and health care team to ensure smooth clinic flow.
