Job summary

MedStar Health seeks a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision of a physician or nurse. Responsibilities include venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, patient exams, and clerical support.

The role may float to other sites within the system. The candidate will assist with patient preparation, support the care team, conduct screenings and coordination of care, and ensure accurate EMR documentation and appropriate follow-up

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year of ambulatory care experience required; externship preferred.
• Cardiology offices: 6 months experience or related degree/certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies.
• Assists providers with patient prep and exams; supports smooth patient flow.
• Participates in daily team huddles and reviews scheduled visits.
• Performs patient and laboratory testing per scope of practice.
• Documents activities in EMR and completes follow-ups as needed.
• Floats to other sites as required and attends meetings for safety and quality.
