Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our clinic team in Iowa. The role encompasses front-to-back clinical support, patient rooming, vital signs, and assisting with procedures under the supervision of a provider.

You will maintain patient records in the electronic medical record system, coordinate with the care team, and participate in performance improvement initiatives while upholding high standards of patient care and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Completed medical assistant program accredited by CAAHP or ABHES.
• CMA or RMA certification must be obtained within first year of employment.
• Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
• BLS certification or obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training completed within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Recognize urgent/emergent needs of patients and initiate appropriate procedures.
• Follow EMR procedures for test results, filing, and charging in the electronic record.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and assess patient needs with the health care team.
• Ensure accurate documentation of all patient interactions in the EMR.
• Assist with procedures, exams, and use of diagnostic equipment (EKG, spirometry, etc.).
• Maintain aseptic technique and room/medication preparation.
• Maintain supplies and keep exam/procedure areas ready for patient use.
