Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group in Iowa is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across multiple clinic areas. You will prepare patients, collect vitals, and document results under provider supervision.

The role also involves administering medications, assisting with exams, and coordinating scheduling for tests and procedures. The position requires completion of an accredited medical assistant program, with on-time pursuit of CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA within one year, and BLS within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Completion of a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHP or ABHES.
• Must obtain CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA within one year of hire.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Must read/write English and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient care through preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation.
• Administers medications, immunizations, and assists with procedures.
• Schedules labs, imaging, procedures, and follow-ups; educates patients on plan of care.
• Maintains patient charts, checks for accuracy, and ensures confidential handling of records.
• Supports training and cross-coverage in clinic areas as needed.
