Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. You will escort patients, record vital signs, perform routine tasks, and support physicians and nurses with daily operations.

This role requires a High School diploma, BLS certification, and a Massachusetts-approved Medical Assistant credential. A signing bonus may be available, and the team works Monday–Friday with a 20-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS/Heart Saver certification; within 3 months from date of hire if not available at hire.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Department of Health.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs per standard procedures.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests according to clinic standards.
• May prepare and administer non-intravenous injections as directed.
• Assist in routine physical examinations or clinical procedures.
• Review lab results and promptly inform physicians of abnormal findings.
• Communicate observations to licensed clinicians and support room setup and cleaning.
• Ensure instruments and scopes are cleaned, sterilized, and repackaged per protocol.
• Operate sterilization/cleaning systems as needed.
• Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and scheduling; collect co-pays.
• Maintain supplies, inventory, and re-order as needed; manage patient records.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification

Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health
