Job Summary

Coordinates and manages distributive and clinical services provided by the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, including supervision of personnel and educational programs offered by the department.

Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
  1. Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
  2. Must possess current license to practice pharmacy in West Virginia or be license eligible. Licensure must be completed within 60 days.
Experience
  1. Completion of a health-system pharmacy administration residency program OR
  2. Completion of a non-health-system pharmacy administration residency program AND 1 year of experience as a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy administrator OR
  3. Three (3) years of pharmacy administrative experience OR
  4. Five (5) years pharmacist practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
  1. Master of Business Administration, Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Health-System Pharmacy Administration, or Master in Public Health.
  2. Board Certification in a clinical pharmacy specialty
Core Duties and Responsibilities

The following are general responsibilities; other duties may be assigned:

  1. Develops and implements processes, through orientation, training, and education, to ensure staff competence.
  2. Develops and implements programs to provide drug distribution and clinical services meeting or exceeding national standards.
  3. Formulates and refines systems used in pharmaceutical care.
  4. Supervises staff activities, monitors performance, and promotes cooperation.
  5. Directly supervises staff in primary responsibility areas.
  6. Performs personnel functions such as interviewing, hiring, and performance management.
  7. Ensures policies related to drug distribution are followed.
  8. Coordinates staff schedules and daily work schedules.
  9. Studies trends in pharmacy practice; develops policies and procedures.
  10. Develops policies, procedures, and training materials for clinical and operational services.
  11. Implements new products, technology, and procedures to improve operations.
  12. Works with administration to ensure product standards and compliance.
  13. Assists in budget preparation and monitors financial indicators.
  14. Develops systems to promote safe and effective use of pharmacy resources.
  15. Implements performance improvement programs to enhance service quality and patient safety.
  16. Prepares reports for performance activities.
  17. Encourages effective communication among pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
  18. Proactively identifies and resolves problems.
  19. Maintains professional knowledge through continuing education and involvement in professional societies.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk and stand for long periods, lift 30 pounds, push 50 pounds, and perform dexterity tasks.

This Clinical Pharmacy Manager position supports inpatient and ambulatory WVUH Adult Oncology and Investigational Drug Services at WVUH Medical Center in Morgantown, WV. It reports to the WVUH Director of Oncology and Investigational Drug Services and collaborates with peer managers. The role supervises pharmacists and technicians supporting adult inpatient and ambulatory oncology and investigational drug services.
