Role Overview: Responsible for providing pharmaceutical care at West Virginia University Hospitals through direct patient care, operational, educational, and administrative activities. The pharmacist also assumes a leadership role in the profession.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in West Virginia or license eligible. Licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited school.
Experience
- PGY-2 Residency in a clinical field, or
- PGY-1 Residency plus Board Certification, or
- PGY-1 Residency plus three years of relevant experience, or
- Three years of relevant experience plus Board Certification.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

- Monitor drug therapy through medical rounds and evaluation of medication regimens.
- Provide leadership and guidance to healthcare providers and patients on medication use.
- Assist in admission, discharge planning, and patient education.
- Provide drug information and educational programs.
- Maintain professional competence through conferences and literature review.
- Participate in quality assurance, research, and medication evaluations.
- Review orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Ensure compliance with medication safety procedures.
- Document medication errors and promote safety.
- Dispense medications and follow policies on drug distribution.
- Manage drug use control and identify related issues.
- Make decisions regarding pharmaceutical services.
- Report adverse reactions and manage emergencies.
- Communicate findings and maintain records.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and participate in staff education.
- Engage in scholarly activities and departmental improvements.
- Complete assignments and continuing education timely.
Physical Requirements
- Walk and stand for long periods.
- Lifting up to 30 pounds and pushing 50 pounds.
- Dexterity for handling and reaching.

Additional Job Details
This position is for an Oncology Clinical Pharmacist working with inpatient solid tumor patients, supporting oncologists, residents, and other healthcare providers, and participating in oncology committees.
