Job description

University Medical Center of Southern Nevada sits at the center of the region’s most complex care: Nevada’s only nonprofit Level I trauma center, verified burn center, and multi-organ transplant center. UMC is also the first and only Magnet-recognized hospital in Nevada—a distinction that reflects a nursing culture built on professional growth, shared governance, and the expectation that leaders empower teams to deliver exceptional care. These Clinical Manager roles in CCU/CVCU and Burn Care are for nursing leaders who want their work to matter at the bedside, in the community, and across healthcare in Nevada.

The Moment & Opportunity

UMC is hiring several Clinical Managers to guide high-performing teams in critical care environments where decisions are urgent, standards are exacting, and leadership is visible every shift. The opportunity is to strengthen outcomes in two mission-critical areas: cardiac critical care, including recovery for heart surgery patients, and burn care, including education, outreach, data review, and performance improvement tied to patient matters. For leaders who thrive in high-stress clinical settings and believe Magnet culture is more than a designation, this is a chance to shape practice, mentor nurses, and raise the bar for care across Southern Nevada.

Scope & Impact

The Clinical Manager will provide operational leadership, support staff development, and uphold quality standards within either the CCU/CVCU or Burn Care Unit.

  • Guide nursing teams through complex, high-acuity care environments with clarity and accountability.
  • Use shared governance frameworks to support decisions, elevate practice, and build engagement.
  • Support Magnet and Pathway to Excellence standards through leadership, performance improvement, and professional development.
Expectations for Outcomes

Success will be measured in the strength of the unit culture, the consistency of quality standards, and the confidence of nurses who feel supported, engaged, and empowered.

  • Promote UMC’s Magnet culture through visible leadership, clear communication, and shared decision-making.
  • Elevate patient outcomes through reliable care standards and compassionate clinical execution.
  • Develop and mentor nursing staff, helping teams grow in skill, judgment, and professional pride.
  • Lead effectively in moments of pressure, balancing operational discipline with human-centered care.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a proven nurse leader with deep critical care expertise, sound operational judgment, and the presence to lead teams through complexity.

  • For CCU/CVCU: lead cardiac critical care operations, with preference for experience supervising at least 70 FTEs and managing a cardiovascular coronary care unit at a comparable facility.
  • For Burn Care: support burn-related education, outreach, data presentation, meeting management, and process improvement, with preference for ambulatory burn experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Five years of clinical nursing experience, including two years in a supervisory role or higher; candidates with four years in a nursing lead role and completion of required hospital management training may be considered.
  • Valid Nevada Registered Nurse license and Basic Life Support certification.
  • Some roles may require ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NRP, or specialty certification.
  • CCU/CVCU: preference will be given to applicants with strong nurse leader or Clinical Manager experience, prior experience supervising a minimum of 70 FTEs, minimum two years of CCU/CVCU nursing experience, and minimum three years of recent experience managing a cardiovascular coronary care unit at a similar facility and recovering heart surgery patients.
  • Burn Care: minimum five years of recent burn/critical care nursing experience and minimum two years of pediatrics experience; Advanced Burn Life Support required within one year of hire.
  • Previous leadership in a Magnet organization is preferred for Burn Care.
Compensation

Salary Range: $108,534.40 - $168,230.40

  • Employer-paid pension through Nevada Public Employees’ Retirement System “PERS”: nvpers.org/front
  • UMC covers both employee and employer pension contributions; vesting occurs after five years of qualifying employment.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, with employee-only coverage at less than $20 per paycheck.
  • Consolidated Annual Leave for personal leave, 12 scheduled holidays per year, appointments, vacation, and short-term sick leave up to 16 consecutive scheduled work hours.
  • Extended Illness Bank, also known as Sick Bank.
  • 457 Deferred Compensation Plan and comprehensive group health insurance.
  • Nevada has no state income tax, and PERS members have no Social Security (FICA) deduction.
