Job summary

Position Summary

Manages one or more clinical units. Duties include determining appropriate staffing levels to achieve organizational goals, participating in the development of the unit budget, monitoring the units' compliance with standards, and supervising nursing staff.

Employment is at-will and subject to CEO discretion.

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, two (2) years of which were in a supervisory role or higher. Candidates with four (4) years of experience in a nursing lead role and completion of required hospital management training class may also be considered.

Licensing / Certification Requirements

Valid license from the State of Nevada to practice as a Registered Nurse and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Some positions may require one or more of the following: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; Trauma Nurse Core Certification (TNCC); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP); additional certification in a specialty area.

Additional Position Requirements
  • Strong nurse leader or clinical manager experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent burn/critical care nursing experience and minimum of two (2) years of pediatrics experience
  • Experience with education, outreach, data review and presentation, meeting management, and performance improvement process related to burn care and patient matters
  • Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) within one (1) year of hire
  • Familiarity with Pathway to Excellence and Magnet standards
  • Comfort level and skills in leading and making decisions using shared governance frameworks
  • Ability to operationally lead and manage in a high‑stress environment
Preferences
  • Experience in ambulatory burn setting
  • Previous leadership in a Magnet organization
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, coordination of patient care); disease process; patient care plan development; patient evaluation and assessment techniques; body mechanics for ambulating, transferring, repositioning patients; knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations affecting health care services, Joint Commission Accreditation standards, quality assurance and performance improvement principles; knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act; supervisory principles; department and hospital safety practices; patient rights; infection control policies; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; emergency response policies; age‑specific care practices.

Skill In

Assigning and monitoring the work of others; evaluating quality control; implementing nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation; supervising and training staff; developing and monitoring budgets; developing staffing plans; performing data analysis; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio‑economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting, including stamina to stand and/or sit for extended periods; strength to examine and treat varied individuals; vision to use standard office equipment and read printed materials and a VDT screen; hearing and speech to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently to move objects.
