Job description

Clinical Manager – Sobering & Deflection Center

Portland, OR

Full-Time | Behavioral Health Leadership | Community-Based Crisis Services

An established behavioral health organization is seeking an independently licensed Clinical Manager to support the launch and ongoing operations of a Sobering and Deflection Center in Portland, Oregon. This program provides immediate support and stabilization for individuals experiencing acute intoxication, substance-related impairment, behavioral health crises, and other community-based needs—while helping divert individuals away from emergency departments and the criminal justice system.

This is an opportunity to step into a highly impactful leadership role within an innovative, mission-driven environment focused on harm reduction, recovery, and compassionate care for vulnerable populations.

About the Role

The Clinical Manager will oversee daily clinical operations and provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals in crisis. This role partners closely with nursing staff, behavioral health professionals, peer support specialists, and community agencies to ensure safe, trauma-informed, and person-centered care.

The ideal candidate is a strong behavioral health leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys mentoring teams, and is passionate about supporting individuals with substance use and co-occurring behavioral health needs.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide clinical and operational oversight for the Sobering and Deflection Center
  • Supervise and support behavioral health staff, case managers, peer support specialists, and clinical personnel
  • Provide clinical supervision to assigned staff as appropriate
  • Ensure trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered care practices
  • Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and clinical decision-making in high-acuity situations
  • Partner with nursing staff, providers, EMS, hospitals, and community organizations to coordinate care and diversion efforts
  • Support onboarding, coaching, staff development, and ongoing clinical training
  • Monitor documentation standards, program compliance, and quality assurance initiatives
  • Participate in incident review, performance improvement, and operational planning
  • Help maintain a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment for both participants and staff
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Behavioral Health, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required
  • Active independent Oregon licensure required (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT)
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within behavioral health, substance use treatment, crisis stabilization, or community-based services strongly preferred
  • Experience working with high-acuity behavioral health and substance use populations required
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, crisis intervention, and recovery-oriented practices
  • Ability to lead effectively in fast-paced, evolving clinical environments
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Opportunity to help shape a newly developing Sobering and Deflection program
  • Mission-driven work supporting underserved and vulnerable populations
  • Collaborative leadership team and supportive clinical environment
  • Strong long-term growth potential within behavioral health leadership
  • Meaningful, community-impact focused work every day
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability & Life Insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Generous PTO package
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Tuition reimbursement opportunities available
