Position Overview

The Clinical Liaison is a key member of our residential dual-diagnosis treatment team. This individual works closely with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, behavioral health technicians, and other clinical professionals to support the treatment, safety, and overall progress of clients receiving residential care.

This position involves facilitating therapeutic and psychoeducational groups, assisting with clinical documentation, supporting treatment planning, and providing additional clinical coverage when needed.

The Clinical Liaison will also assist with overflow caseloads and provide coverage for therapists who are unavailable, helping ensure continuity of care throughout the residential treatment process.

The ideal candidate is proactive in addressing clients who may be considering leaving treatment Against Medical Advice (AMA), communicates effectively with the multidisciplinary team, and demonstrates a compassionate, client-centered approach to treatment.

Key Responsibilities
Group Facilitation
  • Facilitate therapeutic, psychoeducational, and process groups for clients receiving residential treatment.
  • Lead groups covering topics such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, life skills, creative expression, and recovery planning.
  • Encourage client participation and create a safe, supportive environment for group discussions.
  • Adapt group content to meet the clinical needs and treatment goals of residential clients.
Clinical Documentation and Treatment Support
  • Assist with completing and maintaining clinical documentation, including Biopsychosocial Assessments, Safety Plans, and Treatment Plans, within the individual's qualifications and scope of practice.
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with primary therapists and other clinical team members to monitor client progress and treatment needs.
  • Utilize the electronic medical record system to document clinical services and relevant client information.
Client Care and Clinical Coverage
  • Provide additional clinical support to residential clients as needed.
  • Assist with overflow caseloads and provide appropriate coverage when primary therapists are unavailable.
  • Support clients experiencing emotional distress, treatment resistance, or difficulty adjusting to the residential environment.
  • Participate in efforts to prevent premature treatment departures, including proactive AMA intervention and coordination with the clinical team.
  • Communicate changes in client presentation, engagement, or treatment needs to appropriate clinical staff.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  • Work closely with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, behavioral health technicians, and leadership to ensure coordinated client care.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, clinical discussions, and case consultations as needed.
  • Maintain professional communication with team members regarding client progress, concerns, and treatment recommendations.
  • Promote a positive, supportive, and collaborative treatment environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Master's degree or current enrollment in a master's degree program in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related mental health field.
  • Passion for working with individuals experiencing mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Understanding of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, relapse prevention, and other evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to facilitate engaging and clinically appropriate group sessions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet clinical documentation deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Experience in residential treatment, behavioral health, or substance use disorder treatment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the KIPU electronic medical record system is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Successful completion of a Level II background screening is required.
