Qualifications

• NYS license required; provisional/limited permit holders must obtain full license within 24 months of hire.
• ASCP certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Correctly performs testing in an accurate and timely manner.
• Interprets and correlates test results with patient history and diagnosis.
• Communicates stat and critical lab results to physicians and nursing units.
• Performs QC, maintenance and instrument troubleshooting.
• Prepares reagents and maintains inventory with cost containment in mind.
• Maintains knowledge of computer functions for ordering and reporting testing.
• Teaches in the Medical Laboratory Science Program and Lab rotations as needed.
• Meets all regulatory lab requirements consistently.
• Additional duties as requested by manager.
