Job description

Are you an experienced Medical Lab Professional? Are you looking to embark on a new challenge in your career, or start your career in Medical Lab Science? If so, LabCorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Technologist Trainee in RTP, NC. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".

Integrated Oncology, a LabCorp Specialty Testing Group, provides reference anatomic pathology, hematopathology and molecular pathology testing services to hospitals, health systems and independent oncology practices. Integrated Oncology is focused on providing world class solutions to better the lives of patients living with cancer.

The work schedule for this position: Tuesday – Saturday 2pm – 10:30pm. 10% shift differential for 2nd shift.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. New Grads Welcome – Full Training Provided

Responsibilities:

  • Verifies proper and consistent identification of specimens prior to and during all accessioning and processing steps.
  • Records initials on all paperwork to indicate work performed by individual.
  • Notifies Senior Technologist, Team Lead, Supervisor, Lab Manager or Lab Director of any identification discrepancies and documents action taken.
  • Operates general lab equipment and instruments in order to perform assigned duties.
  • Routinely performs specimen setup and instrument operations.
  • Performs routine and moderate complexity analyses and interpretations.
  • Uses test result abbreviations appropriately.
  • Actively seeks assistance with high complexity analyses.
  • Tests specimens completely, accurately and within established time frames.
  • Understands and follows established testing procedures.
  • Understands that all patient information is confidential and complies with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or other related science
  • Previous experience is not required at the Technologist Trainee level
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
