Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Technologist to join our team at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 11:30am–8pm, with on-call weekends and a 10% shift differential.

The role involves evaluating specimens, performing tests per SOPs, maintaining instruments, and ensuring accurate results to support patient care. A bachelor’s degree in a science field plus MLS or lab experience is required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a chemical or biological science, CLIA-acceptable education.

Responsibilities

• Determine acceptability of specimens for testing according to criteria.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate, timely test results for quality patient care.
• Maintain preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:30am - 8pm, rotating on call weekends. Eligible for 10% shift differential.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification
• 2-3 years Molecular NGS experience in a clinical laboratory (HLA or Molecular Lab)

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range: $31.00 - $44.76 per hour + Shift Differential

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.

Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
