Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Laboratory Technician for the Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA. Work schedule is 11pm–7:30am, 24 hours per week, six days on, eight days off, with shift differentials available.

Qualifications include an Associate’s degree in a chemical or biological science and preferred ASCP/AMT certification. The role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities to advance in a global diagnostics organization.

• Experience in clinical laboratory testing settings is preferred.
• Certification such as ASCP or AMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation for proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

$10,000 sign on bonus (external candidates only) Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team at MelroseWakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA.

Work Schedule: 11pm - 7:30am. 24 hours a week, 6 days on, 8 days off, every other weekend. Eligible for 15% shift differential on weekdays OR 30% shift differential on Saturdays + Sundays.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range

$27.75 - $36.50 per hour + Shift Differential All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
