Job summary

Montefiore Hudson Valley Collaborative is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist for the Moses campus Microbiology Lab. The role runs 5:00 PM–1:30 AM with alternate weekends and 7.5 hours per shift, performing routine and emergency tests on blood and body fluids using automated and manual equipment.

You must hold a NYS CLT license (or limited permit) and a bachelor’s degree in a physical science, with 1 year of Lab Technologist experience (2–3 years preferred).

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a physical science and NYS CLT license or limited permit.
• Laboratory and hospital information system experience is preferred.
• Experience as a Lab Technologist (1+ year) is required; 2–3 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment, depending on procedure.
• Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed and review data prior to release.
• Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures and document actions as stipulated by procedures.
• Maintain all records and logs, assist with order entry in LIS, and provide training to new employees.

Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites.Clinical Microbiology services for the diagnosis of bacterial, mycobacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases are centered at the Moses site. The Clinical Lab Technologist will perform routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using a variety of automated and manual instrumentation in a timely manner. Maintain equipment and records according to department procedures and regulatory agencies guidelines in the areas of QA and QC. Use independent judgment to solve technical and procedural problems. In some instances, ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time is necessary. **Responsibilities:**• Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment, depending on procedure.
