Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Laboratory Operations Manager to lead the Pine Bluff Laboratory, overseeing daily operations for laboratory, pathology, and radiology, while supervising technical staff in a compliant, efficient environment.

The role ensures CLIA compliance, conducts moderate-complexity testing, and drives quality assurance with policy development, staff training, and cross-department coordination to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• MLS/MT ASCP certification required or equivalent.
• Two years of lead clinical laboratory experience.
• Experience with CLIA requirements.
• Legal authority to work in the United States on day one.

Responsibilities

• Support clinic, CLIA Lab Director, and manager in lab, pathology, and radiology operations.
• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations at Pine Bluff Laboratory.
• Actively supervise technical staff.
• Perform moderate-complexity testing procedures.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
• Document deviations and assist with quality assurance.
• Coordinate daily lab and radiology activities (scheduling, workflows, inventory).
• Ensure instruments and testing platforms are maintained.
• Maintain quality assurance and quality control prior to patient testing.
• Meet CLIA and other regulatory requirements.
• Assess staff competency and oversee training.
• Provide coaching and disciplinary actions with HR.
• Write and revise policies and procedures.
• Adapt workflows to changing demands and patient needs.
• Maintain communication with laboratory leadership, nursing, and infection prevention.

Job description

• Support the Clinic, CLIA Lab Director, and manager regarding laboratory, pathology, and radiology operations
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Pine Bluff Laboratory
• Actively supervise technical staff
• Perform moderate-complexity testing procedures
• Ensure approved policies and procedures are implemented and followed
• Document deviations, initiate investigations, identify corrective actions, and assist with quality assurance
• Maintain competency across all bench areas and provide coverage when needed
• Coordinate daily laboratory and radiology activities, including scheduling, workflows, inventory management, and new testing evaluation and implementation
• Ensure instruments and testing platforms are maintained and functioning properly
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control are completed and acceptable before patient testing
• Ensure CLIA and other regulatory requirements are met
• Assess staff competency and oversee new-employee training
• Provide coaching and disciplinary actions as appropriate with HR and the department manager
• Write and revise policies and procedures
• Adapt departmental workflows to changing demands and patient needs
• Maintain communication with laboratory leadership, nursing, and infection prevention staff

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or other ASCP approved discipline
• Two (2) years of lead clinical laboratory experience
• MLS/MT ASCP certification or equivalent
• Experience with CLIA requirements
• Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
• Annual TB screening, criminal background check, and substance abuse testing
• Preferred: Five (5) years general laboratory experience with current instrumentation
• Preferred: Experience with COLA, LIS systems, Microsoft Office programs, inventory control, pulling data, and creating reports
