Job summary

Care New England is seeking a Medical Laboratory professional to analyze specimens for diagnosis and treatment. The role involves qualitative and quantitative analysis, specimen collection, and operation of specialized instrumentation.

The candidate will perform quality control, verify results, manage supplies, and may supervise in the absence of the department head. Ongoing education and reporting are required to maintain standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical technology or related science.
• ASCP or NCA certification required.
• Six months of job-related experience or equivalent.
• Ability to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens per procedures.
• Collect specimens and handle them as needed.
• Operate and calibrate complex biomedical instrumentation.
• Conduct daily quality control testing and report results.
• Review test results for accuracy before entry into the system.
• Maintain inventory to ensure continuous service and minimize downtime.
• Evaluate results for clinical significance and report accordingly.
• Stay current with methods by attending seminars and reading journals.
• Assume supervisory duties in absence of Department Head and train new staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
