This job involves receiving and preparing specimens according to protocols, performing laboratory tests, quality control, maintaining equipment, performing phlebotomy, and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, laboratory science, or related field. Copy of Transcript required.

Work Experience

Required: None.

Certifications

Required: Current license in the state of practice (if applicable). ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist. Incumbents certified by ASCP on or after January 1, 2004, must complete the Certification Maintenance Program.

  • Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval; familiar with Windows applications.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good judgment and conflict resolution skills.

Job Duties
  • Perform and interpret routine and specialized tests accurately and independently.
  • Analyze and record quality control and instrument maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and document actions.
  • Follow regulatory guidelines, safety protocols, and proficiency testing procedures.
  • Assist in performance improvement and manage supplies efficiently.
  • Adapt interactions based on patient population, respecting privacy and communication needs.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Remain knowledgeable about laws, standards, and regulations applicable to the role, ensuring compliance.

Maintain and adhere to the employer's Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, reporting unethical or questionable behaviors.
