Job summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at St. Charles Health System in Madras, OR performs, interprets and reports clinical laboratory testing on a variety of human specimens, following laboratory policies and quality standards.

The role may involve instrument maintenance, calibration, quality control and collaboration with clinicians to ensure accurate results. A bachelor’s or higher in lab science plus current MLS/MT certification is required or eligible within eight weeks of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited program.
• Current national certification/licensure at MLS/MT level or eligible within 8 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report clinical laboratory testing on varied specimen types.
• Document results accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments.
• Review test results for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure safe specimen handling and adherence to regulatory requirements.
