Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join the Microbiology lab at the Brentwood Annex in Los Angeles. You will assist with various technical procedures across Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology and Parasitology, including urine and blood cultures, stains, and BD Max PCR.

The role requires a California CLS license, strong microbiology training, and hands-on experience with lab instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) or Clinical Microbiology Scientist (CMS).
• Strong educational background and advanced training in Microbiology.
• Previous technical and practical experience in Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, and/or Parasitology.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current instrumentation, including BD Bactec FX, bioMerieux Vitek 2 and MS systems, centrifuges, water baths, analytical balance, fume hood, biological safety cabinet, and incubator.
• Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam, i.e. visual acuity including color differentiation.

Responsibilities

• Perform urine cultures, blood cultures, gram stains, fungal stains, and BD Max PCR.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and reagents; prepare reagents.
• Support microbiology sections including Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology and Parasitology.

Primary responsibilities include performing urine cultures, blood cultures, gram stains, fungal stains, and BD Max PCR, as well as troubleshooting laboratory instruments and reagent preparation.

Salary Range: $59.37 - $79.11/hour
