Job summary

Saint John Hospital, Inc. in Leavenworth, KS is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (CLS II) to join our diagnostic team.

The role supports patient care by performing and interpreting a wide range of laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other samples. We offer a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, 10-hour night shifts from 8:00pm to 6:30am, and a full-time position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification or equivalent, or specialized military training in laboratory science required
• Two years of hospital laboratory work experience preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions, including routine and specialized tests
• Interpret lab test results and identify abnormalities to assist doctors in patient care decisions
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures and calibrate/maintain laboratory instruments
• Keep accurate records of all tests and input data into laboratory information systems
• Ensure laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, regulations, and accreditation requirements
• Perform a wide variety of procedures using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and related disciplines

Education

Bachelor's Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technician

Two years hospital laboratory work experience (preferred)

Shifts Available: Nights ($3 to $5 diff in pay)

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II, also referred to as a Medical Technologist (Med Tech). The Clinical Lab Scientist II (CLS II) requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team. CLS II plays an important role in the diagnostic process, contributing significantly to patient care and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Licensed Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS) or Medical Technologists (MT) with no prior experience (new graduates) are encouraged to apply. This can be an entry-level position classified as CLS I with no experience.
• Perform laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions, this may include routine tests as well as specialized tests
• Interpret lab test results and identify any abnormalities, ensure the accuracy and reliability of these results to assist doctors in making informed decisions about patient care
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain high standards in laboratory testing, you may also calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
• Keep accurate and detailed records of all laboratory tests performed and their results, input data into our laboratory information systems
• Ensure all laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation requirements
• Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using both manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and any other disciplines as introduced into the laboratory
