As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will help provide transfusion support for patients, including those undergoing trauma care and transplants. Other primary duties include:
• Perform patient transfusion testing and immunology problem work-ups.
• Perform quality control testing, quality assurance activities, and donor quality assurance.
• Assist patients with inquiries regarding test results.
• Record and review test results for accuracy and completeness while maintaining lab records.
Note: This position follows a 4/10 alternating schedule, working four 10-hour shifts per week, with rotating holidays. The workdays alternate as follows:
• Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
• Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
• Shift Hours: 9:30 PM - 8:00 AM
Salary Range: $53.31 - $71.04/hour
• Current, valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist license.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of recent clinical laboratory experience in a Blood Bank, preferred.
• Experience with MTS gel methodology and solid phase testing, preferred.
• Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam, i.e. visual acuity including color differentiation.
• Ability to work an alternative schedule on occasion (e.g. Tuesday - Saturday, 11:00pm - 7:30am) based on operational needs.
• Ability to work holidays.
