Job summary

Fayette Medical Associates is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to collect specimens and perform automated and manual laboratory tests for inpatient and outpatient care, ensuring accuracy and timely results.

You will calibrate instruments, perform quality control, document procedures, and uphold infection control standards while contributing to education and continuing competency within the team.

Qualifications

• Certification as MT or CLS within 18 months of employment.
• BLS certification within 90 days of employment and maintain thereafter.
• Reading, writing, and spoken English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary method for patients of all ages.
• Performs basic and advanced laboratory procedures per age-specific needs.
• Calibrates, standardizes, and operates instruments; performs quality control and troubleshooting.
• Documents all tasks, reviews QC, proficiency testing, and specimen rejections.
• Adheres to infection control and safety policies and participates in training/continuing education.
• Inventories, orders, and stocks supplies; ensures proper storage and handling.
• Responds to inquiries about test results, methodology, and interpretation.
• Serves as primary/secondary responsible person for assigned areas; may act as Charge Tech.
• Participates in maintenance, training, competencies, and procedures.
