Job summary

Texas Health Denton is a full-service community hospital focused on compassionate care and patient safety. The Clinical Laboratory Assistant – PRN will assist in specimen collection, labeling, and testing support across the laboratory team.

Position requires basic education and phlebotomy exposure; ASCP phlebotomy tech preferred. PRN shifts are 12-hour and on-site at Denton, TX, with opportunities to grow within a large health system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Six months of phlebotomy experience or one semester course in phlebotomy preferred.
  • PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician preferred upon hire.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • For those entities performing phlebotomy; employee follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient
  • Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity
  • Reports and evaluates test results
  • Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care

We specialize in Cancer Care, Neck & Back Program, Critical Care, Neonatology, CT Cardiac Imaging, Neurology, Electrophysiology, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Emergency Care, Robotic Surgery, Endovascular Surgery, Stroke Care, General Surgery, Weight Loss Surgery, Heart & Vascular Services, Women & Infants Care, Interventional Radiology and Wound Care & Hyperbaric Treatment.

Texas Health Denton is a Joint Commission-accredited Primary (Level II) Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and a Magnet® designated hospital.

Our four-story specialty center for women and infants features 12 labor and delivery beds, 2 C-section suites along with 6 antepartum and 24 postpartum beds. Texas Health Denton is the city’s only provider of obstetrical and neonatal intensive care services and is the largest provider of obstetrical services in Denton County. The ground floor houses a breast imaging center, outpatient physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation and an internal medicine residency program.

What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. (Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency is required. CLIAFE)
  • Six (6) months experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy is highly preferred.
  • PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician is preferred upon hire.
  • Customer Service experience is preferred.
