Clinical Laboratory Assistant- Phlebotomy Technician

Signature Healthcare’s Brockton Hospital is hiring for a Clinical Lab Assistant-Phlebotomy Technician in Brockton, MA.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood samples following laboratory policies in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Register patients as required.
  • Order laboratory tests requested by providers.
  • Receive and batch specimens into the LIS.
  • Process specimens for in-house and reference testing.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and processing of specimens.
  • Cancel and request new samples if integrity is compromised.
  • Deliver specimens promptly for testing.
  • Load specimens onto the laboratory track system, maintaining sample integrity.
  • Perform add-on testing as requested.
  • Verify patient/specimen identity with two identifiers throughout collection and processing.
  • Prioritize specimens based on testing requirements.
  • Clarify unclear orders before collection or processing.
  • Answer phones, relay messages, and assist callers.
  • Fax patient results per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and healthcare providers.
  • Communicate test and collection instructions clearly and respectfully.
  • Report issues or significant events to management and shifts.
  • Follow up and document appropriately.
  • Respect all patients, families, visitors, and staff, recognizing cultural diversity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred:

  • Experience in medical terminology, customer service, and patient registration.
  • Post-high school education in business or liberal arts desirable.
  • Phlebotomy (ASCP) or Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
