Job summary

Labcorp in Tampa, FL is seeking a Technologist to join our team. You will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, monitor instruments, and ensure accurate test results to support patient care.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science and a Florida MT license. Certification like ASCP/AMT is preferred, with the ability to work a 4am–2:30pm shift on a Wed-Sat schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Microbiology MT FL State License.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems.
• Ability to pass a color-blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
