Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System in Doral, FL is seeking a Laboratory professional to perform clinical tests under supervision, ensuring accurate results and adherence to licensing guidelines. You will support the Section Chief, Chief of Pathology, and Director of Operations in daily operations.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality control on instrumentation, conducting proficiency testing, reporting critical values promptly, training staff, and complying with HIPAA and accreditation

Qualifications

• Florida State License is required.
• Continued education/licensure in Florida is required.
• National Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complies with hospital and laboratory safety regulations.
• Maintains temperatures and performs quality control on instrumentation and reagents used daily.
• Performs preventive maintenance and calibrations on instruments and equipment; maintains cleanliness of instruments and area.
• Performs internal and external proficiency testing; evaluates and responds to proficiency testing results promptly.
• Participates in teaching laboratory procedures and policies to students and staff rotations.
• Performs and reports laboratory tests accurately within required turnaround time.
• Maintains required records and participates in quality control/quality improvement processes.
• Recognizes and reports critical values within specified timeframes to appropriate patient care personnel.
• Conducts parallel studies, evaluates new instrumentation, and implements new test procedures per CAP standards.
• Participates in department lean processes overseen by director.
• Demonstrates proper PPE usage and ensures compliance daily.
• Reviews instrumentation, processes, reagents, and storage for compliance.
