Job summary

Watson Clinic is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform accurate, timely lab testing and participate in quality control within the clinical laboratory. The role requires licensed MT with Florida credentials and experience handling automated instruments and complex assays.

The candidate will maintain LIS proficiency, participate in proficiency testing, and ensure specimen integrity while following established protocols and documenting results for timely physician review.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related Science with approved formal training.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting with automated equipment and complex tests.
• Active Florida license as a Medical Technologist with listed specialties (Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology); registry preferred by ASCP/AMT/AAB.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and reproducible results of routine and complex testing as ordered by physicians.
• Maintain quality control programs including evaluation of values, documentation of errors and corrective action, and records in logs.
• Perform and document scheduled equipment maintenance; troubleshoot problems and notify supervisor of malfunctions.
• Recognize normal and life-threatening results and notify the ordering physician with complete documentation on worksheets and in the LIS.
• Operate the LIS and keep competency with system updates.
• Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
• Ensure specimen integrity and report any events that could compromise results.
• Consent to assume other duties as required by department.
