Job summary

Methodist Hospitals in Gary, IN is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform STAT and routine laboratory testing following policy. You will support clerical and technical tasks and ensure compliance with quality standards.

The position requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work independently while handling moderate to high complexity assays. A Bachelors in Medical Technology and certification eligibility are preferred.

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve instrument-related problems.

Responsibilities

• Performs all moderate and highly complex laboratory procedures.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance procedures and troubleshooting as necessary.
• Performs instrument assays and calibrations as required. May be assigned key operator role.
• Performs Quality Control Procedures and evaluates QC data.
• Participates in CMS mandated proficiency testing and educational requirements.
• Follows Laboratory/Hospital Policies, Procedures, Practices, and Protocols as intended.
• Oversees MLT Students Clinical Rotation as assigned.
• Participates in Inventory Management and Optimal Resource Utilization.
• Assists in collecting data for the Performance Improvement Plan.
• Assists in evaluation of new Testing Protocols.
