Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center seeks a Medical Technologist to perform routine and complex tests on a variety of specimens, ensuring accurate results and proper specimen identification. You will collaborate with pathologists, supervisors and nursing staff to support patient care.

The role requires a Baccalaureate degree in medical technology, ASCP registry (preferred), and completion of orientation programs.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related science.
• Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical technology, ASCP preferred.
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex tests on blood, urine, tissues, body fluids and other specimens.
• Recognize results requiring referral to supervisor/pathologist.
• Handle specimen processing and testing with accuracy.
• Enter and edit laboratory orders in LIS; assist with billing documents.
• Maintain reagents and supplies; ensure specimen identification throughout testing.
• Communicate results and discrepancies to physicians and staff as needed.
• Participate in quality control and ongoing education, training new staff.
