Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform defined laboratory procedures and report results to support optimal patient outcomes. You will work on assigned shifts with overtime and call back as required, and you may be asked to perform related duties.

You will receive, prioritize, and process specimens, perform quality control, instrument maintenance, and maintain proper documentation while adhering to regulatory standards and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited MLT program.
• National certification must be obtained within six months of hire date.
• Clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control and document as required.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Follows regulatory requirements, competency requirements and maintains safe laboratory practice.
• Completes assigned goals.
