Job summary

Actalent in Sierra Vista, AZ is seeking a Lab Technician to support daily operations in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory. You will perform venipuncture, pre-analytical processing, and approved tests, ensuring accuracy, timely results, and patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires high school diploma and formal lab training, with preferred phlebotomy certification and experience with automated analyzers. On-site, Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of formal training in laboratory testing in a moderate-complexity laboratory.
• Relevant certification, such as Phlebotomy Technician certification, preferred.
• Previous experience with automated analyzers used in moderate-complexity testing is preferred.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records.
• Prior work experience in outpatient clinics or stat laboratories is a plus.
• Bilingual communication skills are beneficial.
• Strong team collaboration skills and ability to work cooperatively with clinical and laboratory staff.
• Comfort working with biological specimens and chemical reagents while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Verify patient identification and proper labeling of specimens.
• Prepare specimens according to established protocols.
• Provide professional communication during collection and testing.
• Perform daily quality control and instrument calibration.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Record, verify, and release LIS results.
• Monitor inventory and restock supplies.
• Maintain daily logs and quality documentation.
• Follow safety, biosafety, and infection control policies.
• Identify and report critical results promptly.
• Communicate test results and status with clinicians.
• Perform stat testing and CBCs.
• Maintain a clean, compliant workspace.
