Job summary

Labcorp in Graham, NC is hiring a Laboratory Technician to join a high-volume clinical lab. You will determine specimen acceptability, perform procedures, monitor instruments, and report results to support patient care.

Requires an associate degree in a chemical/biological science and ASCP or AMT certification, plus 1+ year of lab testing experience. Overtime and shift flexibility may be required, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements.
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures.
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Education
