Job summary

UVA Community Health is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Associate III to perform pre-analytical processing of specimens for testing in the hospital lab. You will handle data entry, order processing, and specimen/requisition reconciliation, while assisting with send-out testing and patient registration.

You will also manage sample labeling, distribution, phlebotomy tasks, and pathology support, with emphasis on accuracy, quality assurance, and teamwork in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum two years healthcare or laboratory experience or CLA certification; or phlebotomy certification; or student in related BS/CLS program.
• Preferred Certification as CLA, MOA, or ASCP.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; ability to communicate with staff; ability to follow protocols and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for clinical testing.
• Data entry of client demographic information, processing test orders, and order review.
• Reconcile specimen/order problems and assist with send-out testing.
• Ensure proper patient registration, requisition filing, and supply management support.
• Answer phones and ensure proper labeling of samples and sample distribution; patient phlebotomy and pathology support.
