Job summary

Universal Hospital Services Inc. seeks a Laboratory Technologist to receive and analyze specimens and report results in a timely manner according to Laboratory Policies and Procedures.

In addition to technical duties, you will participate in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, maintenance and safety programs, and help evaluate new methods. The role may involve teaching and continuing education with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related lab science; or Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Plus 10 years of work experience.
• Registered Clinical Laboratory Science – certified by national registry such as CLS(MLS), MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), MT(AMT) is required within six months of hire.
• Techs newly certified as of 2004, are required to participate in a Certification Maintenance Program to continue certification every 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Receive and analyze laboratory specimens and report results promptly according to Laboratory Policies and Procedures.
• Perform duties requiring technical and professional judgment and participate in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, maintenance and safety programs.
• Evaluate and write procedures for new methods, participate in teaching, continuing education, supervisory and other organizational activities.
• Perform other related duties with a minimum of supervision.

Education
