Job summary

Peoplefluent seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and specialized clinical tests in assigned sections, using automated and non-automated equipment, and to communicate results to physicians and other authorized personnel.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special clinical laboratory tests in assigned sections using automated and non-automated equipment.
• Acts as Acting Charge Clinical Scientist when requested.
• Assesses results with respect to controls, reviews accuracy, and communicates results to physicians.
• Communicates problems or matters of a scientific, technical and administrative nature within and across departments.
• Analyzes and evaluates results to determine inconsistencies and takes appropriate action.
• Maintains accurate records of tests, results, data and patients, and supports quality assurance audits.
• Maintains equipment in operational condition through adjustments, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Provides instruction in theory, technique, instrumentation to residents, new scientists or technicians.
• Performs related duties such as obtaining specimens and clerical activities.
• Maintains clean and efficient work area and replenishes supplies.
• Prioritizes workload to maximize efficiency while meeting patient and physician needs.
• Coordinates Point of Care Testing and physician office oversight as needed.
