Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Clinical Lab Generalist licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (CLG/CLS) to join the Lakeview Hospital lab team. You will ensure specimens are tested accurately, manage specimen labeling and processing, and support quality control and safety protocols.

Responsibilities include preparing reagents, initiating blood orders, interpreting gram stains, and assisting with muscle stem/biochemical tests.

Qualifications

Licensed Clinical Lab Generalist (CLG) or CLS by Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Responsibilities

Verify specimens acceptable for testing and prepare reagents as needed.
Label, accession and distribute specimens while maintaining patient identification.
Initiate orders for blood and blood components.
Follow safety and infection control policies; report variances.
Select manual or micro-method approaches as appropriate.
Compare patient results with prior data and report accurately within turn-around times.
Prepare and interpret gram stains and other bacteriology/parasite slides.
Perform routine serology, antibody detection and crossmatch procedures.
Prepare blood components with aseptic technique and proper storage.
Maintain quality control and document results.
Assist in orientation of new staff; ensure proper waste handling.
