Job summary

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego is seeking a CLS Generalist to join a skilled laboratory team. The role involves rotating across laboratory benches, processing and analyzing a high volume of diverse specimens, with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.

The position operates in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center and Level III NICU setting, supporting top patient care. Training begins daytime Monday–Friday until competency is achieved, with night shifts to follow and retention/relocation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or California LFS-acceptable degree for CLS or limited license.
• CDPH Licensure: MTA (Clinical Laboratory Scientist).
• One year equivalent full-time clinical laboratory experience.
• ASCP or state required equivalent licensure.

Responsibilities

• Rotate across laboratory benches performing processing and analysis of a high volume of diverse specimens.
• Join a skilled, collaborative laboratory team at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego.
• Work in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center and Level III NICU environment with a focus on teamwork and patient care.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in CLS field or equivalent per California Laboratory Field Services for CLS or Limited License

CDPH Licensure: MTA (Clinical Laboratory Scientist)

One year of full-time clinical laboratory experience

ASCP or state required equivalent licensure

Job description

This is a full time, benefited position with night shifts, 2200-0630 including every other weekend and rotating holidays, located at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego in the Hillcrest area. Training will be during day shift (6am-2:30pm), Monday through Friday until training is completed. Eligible for up to $10k in retention incentives and $3k in relocation incentives if moving from 100+ miles away. More details below.

• Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
• Must remain in original department/specialty
• Must remain in original Job Title
• Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree or degree acceptable by California Laboratory Field Services for the application of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Limited License.
• CDPH Licensure: MTA (Clinical Laboratory Scientist)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• One year equivalent full time in a clinical laboratory.
• ASCP or state required equivalent.
