Job summary

The Health Alliance is seeking a laboratory technician to manage sample intake, clerical tasks, and specimen preparation for urine toxicology and clinical lab analyses. You will receive, sort, accession, and document samples to ensure accurate processing in the LIS.

You will review requisitions, enter patient demographics, and resolve any discrepancies to support timely reporting. Maintaining compliance with SOPs, COLA/CLIA/CAP guidelines, HIPAA, PPE, and safety protocols is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience handling clinical samples and laboratory specimens.
• Familiar with laboratory information systems (LIS) data entry.
• Ability to review requisitions and verify criteria.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and safety regulations.
• Comfort with continuing education and SOP updates.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for sample management, clerical, and specimen preparation for the urine toxicology or clinical laboratory.
• Receive, properly sort, handle and accession samples for analysis.
• Review sample requisitions for acceptable criteria and process appropriately.
• Ensure all clinical data is accurately entered into the laboratory information system.
• Enter demographic information on patients into laboratory information system.
• Resolve and document problem samples.
• Troubleshoot and resolve specimen accessioning issues in preparation for specimen analysis.
• Maintains work area and all documents in compliance with protocols, SOP's, COLA/CLIA and CAP regulations or guidelines.
