Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Manager to lead the Histology and Cytology departments at Ascension St. Vincent in St Johns, FL.

You will oversee operations, staffing and compliance across CAP, CLIA and state regulations, while driving quality and timely service. The role requires a Bachelor’s in a chemical/biological science or medical technology, plus 5+ years in a clinical diagnostics lab with supervisory responsibility and a Florida Technologist Supervisor License.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science, clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Florida Technologist Supervisor License.
• 5+ years in a clinical diagnostics lab with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations.
• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
• Experience recruiting, training and developing staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operational activities of the histology and cytology departments.
• Oversee staffing, scheduling and overtime management.
• Coach and mentor supervisors and staff.
• Perform bench-level testing as needed to support workflow.
• Ensure services meet client needs and internal metrics (TAT).
• Resolve client inquiries with leadership and regulatory teams.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, ISO and state regulations.
• Develop and implement procedures and install equipment/methods.
• Recruit, hire and develop department staff.
• Communicate effectively with leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams.
• Lead departmental meetings and drive continuous improvement.
• Investigate deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain knowledge and a safe, compliant work environment.
• Oversee operations and administration of clinical laboratory testing.
