Job summary

HCA Healthcare's Methodist Hospital Stone Oak is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant to support the lab with specimen processing, basic testing, and equipment maintenance. You will assist with phlebotomy and point-of-care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality controls.

The role requires education as a High School graduate or GED, with phlebotomy training preferred; some lab experience or biology coursework is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED from an accredited program.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required; if not completed, one-year med lab experience or related coursework may qualify.
• Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes specimens and prepares slides; centrifuges specimens and prepares specimens for transport to reference labs.
• Performs specimen processing and testing including moderate complexity testing.
• Sets up instruments and performs basic equipment maintenance.
• Performs basic quality control and collects QA data; handles clerical duties and data entry as required.
• May perform phlebotomy, point-of-care and waived testing as designated.
• Works in accordance with laboratory regulatory standards.
