Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Two years' relevant clinical laboratory experience: Preferred
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license: Preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required

Responsibilities

• Loads quality control and patient specimens onto analyzers for testing; follows procedures to ensure accurate testing.
• Receives specimens for testing; assesses specimens and determines acceptability; escalates as needed.
• Prepares and packages specimens for transport to Adventist Health facilities or outside labs; compiles tracking lists.
• Performs preventive maintenance and minor troubleshooting for laboratory analyzers.
• Monitors temperatures and equipment functionality; maintains inventory of supplies.
• Provides guidance to Lab Assistants to promote workflow and rapid problem resolution.
• Receives calls for the laboratory and assists or routes to appropriate staff.
• Answers patients' questions within scope; escalates when necessary.
