Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant for the Clinical Lab. The role covers pre-analytic processing, specimen handling, and clerical support, with 5:30am-2:00pm or 9:00am-5:30pm shifts and rotating holidays/weekends.

You will follow CLIA guidelines, greet patients, assist with phlebotomy training, stock supplies, and support pathology tasks as assigned. Competitive benefits and a structured team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 1-year clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• State CPT I or CPT II certification if required by the state.
• Current BLS certification on hire and preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow CLIA guidelines in all duties.
• Perform clerical tasks and phone communications.
• Demonstrate good communication and greet patients and visitors.
• Maintain knowledge of test terminology and phlebotomy equipment.
• Process specimens across departments in the pre-analytic phase.
• Stock supplies and maintain clean work areas.
• Assist in pathology training and evaluation as assigned.
• Transcribe post-analytic results.
