Job summary

Prime HealthCare is seeking a Lab Assistant for the Clinical Lab. This per diem, night-shift role involves clerical support, specimen processing in the pre-analytic phase, and assisting licensed staff in pathology and lab tests under supervision.

Strong communication and phlebotomy familiarity are valued; BLS is preferred at hire. Hazardous materials handling and strict adherence to CLIA guidelines are required, with ongoing supervision by licensed personnel.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1-year clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs computer entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties.
• Demonstrates good telephone etiquette and greets patients and visitors politely.
• Processes specimens in pre-analytic phase across multiple departments.
• Stocks and orders routine supplies; maintains clean storage areas and workspaces.
• Assists in pathology with training and evaluation; may perform basic culture inoculations and slide staining under supervision.
