Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant 2 to provide routine support in our clinical and research laboratories. You will identify, accessions, transport, and prepare patient samples, and generate reports under supervision.

This role requires at least a high school diploma and 2 years of relevant experience, plus the ability to handle confidential information, work evenings/nights/weekends, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Identify, handle, and accession patient samples requiring laboratory testing.
• Transport specimens and communicate test results timely and accurately.
• Maintain required laboratory files and logs system in a neat and accurate manner.
• Perform specimen processing, such as centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Maintain adequate inventory level as per protocol.
• Participate in the performance improvement processes for the department.
• Maintain assigned work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Generate patient reports and forwarding them to the proper departments/physicians.
• Investigate and respond to inquiries or problems related to referral testing; resolve issues with samples.
