Job summary

American Senior Communities is seeking a Cook at Danville Regional and Rehab in Danville, VA. The Day Shift position involves preparing and serving nutritious meals for residents, following recipes and menus while upholding sanitation and safety standards.

You will lead kitchen tasks, assist with tray assembly, maintain a clean work area, and ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, or 1–3 years related experience.
• Certification in Sanitation/Safe Food Handling preferred.
• Prior institutional or healthcare foodservice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows recipes and prepares food meeting residents’ nutritional needs.
• Cooks palatable, nutritious meals in required quantities.
• Leads kitchen tasks: food prep, assembling trays, cleaning, storage.
• Maintains a clean work area during service.
• Handles and stores food per procedures and regulations.
