Job summary

MSD Malaysia is seeking a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) to lead strategic planning and execution of late-stage clinical development for immunology projects. You will design trials, supervise clinical scientists, and partner with regulatory, statistics, and manufacturing teams to advance investigational drugs.

The role requires at least 5 years in clinical or development roles, with strong collaboration and a track record in phase 2/3 rheumatology studies.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MD-PhD or DO-PhD required.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical and/or development experience.
• Proven track record in design and execution of phase 2/3 trials in rheumatologic diseases is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate pre-clinical and translational work to inform the early clinical development plan.
• Provide clinical development support for external opportunities to grow the Immunology Pipeline.
• Develop clinical development strategies and plan trials based on these strategies.
• Monitor ongoing or new clinical trials for investigational drugs.
• Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety, efficacy, and regulatory filings.
• Supervise Clinical Scientists in the execution of clinical studies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (regulatory, statistics, manufacturing) and report progress to leadership.
• Author detailed development documents, budgets, and position papers for internal and external audiences.
• Travel about twenty percent of the time to manage projects.
