Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree (BS or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE approved college of pharmacy.
• 3 years of hospital experience is preferred.
• Licensed, or eligible for licensure, pharmacist in Iowa. Must be licensed within 3 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Other certification if requested by direct supervisors/managers.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient focused, outcome oriented pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages.
• Promote a positive work environment and interpersonal relationships.
• Reviews and interprets physician orders to assure appropriate drug choices for age/weight/comorbidities.
• Checks for drug incompatibilities and allergies.
• Oversees medication preparation and timely delivery to care areas.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes across care continuum.
• Supervises and mentors technicians, interns, and students as needed.
• Maintains quality/safety through audits and documentation.
